Dear Students,
We’d like to invite you to work on a middle school project, which was discussed during school year opening ceremony. Below you can find topics, on which students in 2- or 3-people groups will work under a supervision of teacher-tutor. Important information: students should choose their topics by 14th September. Attached please find a project declaration, please fill it in and submit it to teacher-tutor.

Creative writing project (in English)

Victoria Bieniek

Throughout the academic year students will be encouraged to create a single piece or a body of work of original English writing. They will be presented with various pieces of literature in order to explore and gain inspiration about subjects, voice, form and the other elements of writing. They will be challenged to prepare and validate a piece of literature. The piece can be a script, poem, novella or collection of short stories, comic book, indeed any form they choose and regarding any topic, of any length. It is expected the final product is thorough, thought out, deliberate and demonstrates the students’ growth and understanding of literary form. It will be supported with a journal to follow the students’ journey from initial concept to final product.

Subject no 1“Sweets in the human diet”

Project subject: The effect of sweets on Middle School’s student’s health. Aim: How does chocolate/loll-pops, marshmallows, affect our health? Can we live without chocolate etc.?

Brainstorming – the choice of individual subject for team or student, selecting the best time of realization – 1 hour in September

Final version – choice of presentation (Power Point, poster, school newsletter, etc) – January/February

Subject no 2 “Euro 2012”

Project subject: Football – a sport uniting or dividing nations
Aim: The meaning of football for Poland during Euro 2012 seen by a Middle School student.
Project team: the whole class or even Middle School

Subject no 3 “Coca cola”

Project subject: Is Coca cola really as awful as they say it is? (as Mr Roland says)
Aim: experiments with coca – dissolving, staining, calming thirst etc.
Project team: working in pairs; individual work; the whole class.

Subject no 4 “An ecological Middle School student“

Project subject: I cannot change anything in my surrounding environment – “micro world”.
Aim: Finding my own/personal area of activity. What can I do to save the environment?
Team work of 2 students or individual work.
Project team: working in pairs; individual work; the whole class.
