I have a  B.A. Degree in English literature, Art, Drama and Ancient History. I am also a Consultant, Cambridge Teacher Trainer, IB teacher Workshop Leader and an Art Examiner/Moderator for Cambridge and the International Baccalaureate.

On a personal note, I am English but proud of my Polish roots and have three wonderful sons and six grandchildren. Family is a priority for me and believe it is crucial for all children to experience a happy and beneficial life-forming education. These core values are integral at The Canadian School of Warsaw, and one of the many reasons I enjoy working here.

IB COORDINATOR

christine2

Ms. Christine Mamo

This is my second year at The Canadian School of Warsaw, my second year as Grade 1 teacher and my first year as IB coordinator. I am from Sydney, Australia and lived there all my life until moving to Warsaw in January 2014. I have a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology, A Master of Arts in Ancient History and a Diploma for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have also completed “Making the PYP Happen” as part of my IB professional development. I have worked for 14 years in the area of Speech Pathology and Education with both adults and children.

I am a strong believer in holistic education and recognizing the talents of each and every student and using methods that allow students to use and develop their talents in the classroom. I am relishing the opportunity that has been given to me this year in my role as IB coordinator across all three sites, developing relationships with all staff and reigniting their enthusiasm in the PYP and transdisciplinary education. The role has been challenging but it appeals to my high achieving personality and strong work ethic.

On a personal note I love going to the movies, listening to music and traveling. My thirst to see the world and appreciate it’s history in particular has been abated somewhat since moving to Poland as the world, particularly Europe is much closer. As such I have been able to visit many places since coming here and experience different cultures. I love my home and Sydney will always be my home but it is literally on the other side of the world compared to so many places.

Cynthia 01

Grade 2B Ms. Cynthia Rudwick

This is my 4th year at the Canadian School of Warsaw and my 1st year in 2nd grade. I absolutely love the school and its students and this incredible community.

Understanding and interacting with children has been a passion of mine for a huge chunk of my life. All children are natural learners who are so genuinely curious about the world that surrounds them. As a teacher, I firmly feel that my mission is to facilitate that curiosity and to continue to inspire that beautiful sense of wonder. Every child has an expanse of authentic potential within them, and I want to be an active part of showing them what they are truly capable of.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy exploring the outdoors.   Hiking, biking, camping…anything that gets us out enjoying the beautiful Poland.  I also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit many amazing foreign countries.  It is this love of travel and learning about diverse cultures that lead me to earn 1st Degree in Education with an emphasis in teaching Linguistically Diverse Populations.

Grade 4B Mr. Jeff Larsen

jeff

Grade 5B Mr. Adriaan Van Den Berg

I am from South Africa and have been living in Warsaw since 2012. My professional career started off as lawyer however subsequent to a course in Paris my life took a much more adventurous path. I briefly taught History and Afrikaans Second Language at an English Secondary School in South Africa followed by several years giving private English lessons in Warsaw. In total I have around seven years’ experience teaching students between the ages of 5 and 18.
I am a great believer in project-based learning strategies which form a key part of the IB program. The PYP system is still rather new to me. Currently I am completing my “Making the PYP happen” course. With my classes I try to expose students to real-world environments and challenges – teaching them about social responsibilities, motivating them to become true global citizens. The best part about teaching for me is constantly learning alongside students. I believe a teacher should not only act as tutor in class, but also be as engaged in learning as he/she expects the students to be.
